Her debut album Unwritten draws on a range of experiences & passions personal to her - from battling through the dating game ('Frogs & Princes'), & dealing with the trust issues of falling in love ('I Bruise Easily') to learning how to carpe diem ('If You're Gonna Jump') & develop the confidence to take life & own it ('Unwritten'). Told from the viewpoint of a young woman with her head firmly screwed on, Unwritten is fuelled by lyrical sass & real-life suss throughout. Musically the album is inspired by a wide range of influences & styles, from the glam rock of 'Silent Movie' through the muscular funk of 'Single' to the orchestral majesty of 'Wild Horses'. The result is an album packed with winning songs & no irrelevant fillers. BMG. 2004.

N.B. is very much reflective of this 'different place' that she is in now, proving that affairs of the heart, although difficult, make for excellent song-writing material. Each track on the album explores a varying stage of the 'relationship' story, and the issues, experiences, and processes that come with these stages: from the lonely place of never feeling like you will fit with anyone ('Soulmate'), through the flirting, dancing stage where you feel you might ('How Do You Do?'), to the moment at which the game playing ends and open honesty prevails ('Say It Again'). Never one to mouth empty platitudes or re-hash well-worn clich‚s, Natasha's gift for creating Pop music that does not sacrifice intelligence on the altar of universal appeal prevails throughout. On N.B., Natasha worked with a stellar team of talent including Mike Elizondo of Eminem/Dre/50 Cent fame, Adam Levine (Maroon 5), Greg Kurstin (Beck, Lily Allen), previous collaborators Steve Kipner, Andrew Frampton, Wayne Wilkins, Danielle Brisebois and Wayne Rodrigues and long time Madonna collaborator Pat Leonard. 14 tracks including the first single 'I Wanna Have Your Babies'. In the United Kingdom, New Zealand-born Natasha Bedingfield and brother Daniel Bedingfield have seemingly taken up permanent residence at the top of the pop charts. He's an earnest rocker with a dance music bent. She's an altogether more exciting prospect--a singer-songwriter who refuses to sit still, charging through decadent R&B ("Single"), jittery electro-pop ("I'm A Bomb") and first-class balladry ("I Bruise Easily"), invoking the likes of Beyonce and Gwen Stefani. And, okay, sometimes Nelly Furtado. An all-star production team, including former Robbie Williams collaborator Guy Chambers, makes for a debut that sounds like an instant greatest-hits set--just add cheekbones. --Aidin Vaziri
