In the summer of 1998, one of the most influential punk albums (Goddamnit) was recorded by a little ol' band from Chicago called the ALKALINE TRIO. Costing only $900 over a course of 5 days, this album went on to sell over 200,000 records globally. Ten years later we bring you the extensive rerelease of this classic album. Most rereleases offer the basic remastered + bonus photos/liner notes type of deal, but this reissue has been a three year long process that's been given the royal treatment. Completely remixed, remastered, new digipak artwork w/ two metallic foil inks on the cover, twelve page booklet with rare photos/liner notes, and a two hour DVD documentary featuring all original members. Interviews include Matt Skiba, Dan Andriano, and Glenn Porter from the ALKALINE TRIO, Brendan Kelly (LAWRENCE ARMS), Matt Allison (Atlas Studios), Heather Hannoura (Artist/Roadie), and Mike Park (Asian Man Records). The DVD takes you through the story of the bands creation through the eyes of all the major players who were involved in the genesis of the band. It also includes the entire Goddamnit album performed by the original band and then again by the current lineup. We are also extremely proud to introduce four never released songs. These were the first four songs the band ever recorded and they have also been remixed and remastered for the re-release. The vinyl will be released on six limited edition colors of quantities of 500. Two of them will be exclusive to their fan club, which leaves only 2,000 pieces of wax for the rest of the world to fight over. Those who purchase the vinyl will also receive a gift certificate for a free copy of the DVD.
UK Special edition of their successful Crimson album containing a bonus disc with thirteen exclusive tracks and two videos. Some songs on Crimson - 'Mercy Me', 'Death Bed', 'Fall Victim', and 'Prevent This Tragedy' - are kind of a "tip of the hat" to his older material, while a lot more mature than anything he's recorded before; and songs like 'Time To Waste', 'Burn', and 'Your Neck' show a different side of Matt Skiba, yet still holding true to Alkaline Trio's style. Vagrant UK. 2005. * US 2CD version is due on 12.06.2005.
The debut full-length on Asian Man Records from this Chicago 3-piece is hands down, the perfect listening in the wake of a broken heart. Featuring ex-members of 88 Fingers Louise and Slapstick, the Alkaline Trio combines harsh, emotion-filled pop-punk with sappy, heartfelt lyrics that don't go beyond the point of corniness.
Compilation of out of print 7 inches 'For Your Lungs Only', 'I Lied My Face Off' and 'Sun Dials' plus four extra tracks released on various compilations from Chicago based punk trio who were brought together by heartbreak, angst and th companionship of drinking. 2000 release. Standard jewel case.
Though the current world of Alkaline Trio is not nearly as fraught with and fueled by drink and drama as in the band's formative years, the making of the new Crimson (out May 24 on Vagrant), was not without its share of dark portents: Two bone-shattering skateboarding accidents, one PunkVoter tour that failed to block the reelection of George W. Bush... but oddly enough: No failed relationships!
As a result Crimson stands as the most mature and ambitious 13 songs Alkaline Trio has ever pushed itself to create-with able guidance from producer Jerry Finn (Green Day, Blink-182, Jawbreaker). From the ominous piano and atmospherics opening of first single "Time To Waste" to closing ballad "Smoke," not a moment or note is wasted as the familiar Trio balance of darkness and melody on "Mercy Me," "Dethbed" and "The Poison" nestles up against increasingly progressive tempos and arrangements of "Burn" and "Satin," and the epic true-to-life tales of Manson family member Sadie Mae Glutz ("Sadie") and the West Memphis Three ("Prevent This Tragedy").
'Maybe I'll Catch Fire' (Asian Man Records) follows in the footsteps of Goddamnit, while staying true to the elaborate but emotional tone of aggressive pop-punk.
Remains is a 22-song compilation spanning the amazing career of Alkaline Trio. It's a gathering of rare tracks, b-sides, and split EP songs they've recorded since their inception 10 years ago. For many of the true, hardcore Trio fans, this is a must own. And for those just finding out about Alkaline Trio, this will be a great way to look back and see how the band has grown both as song-writers and as lyricists.
The DVD portion of the package will give fans a peek behind the Alkaline Trio curtain. Having taken a videographer with them on their last few tours, the band has captured hundreds of hours of backstage, behind-the-scenes, and live footage. This is the first DVD of its kind by the Trio! The DVD also contains music videos and some "making of the video" segments.
2003 album produced by Jerry Finn (AFI, Green Day, Blink 182), the band has delivered another slice of dark, ominous punk rock with the signature trio lyrics. 12 tracks packaged in a Digipak. Vagrant.
The Alkaline Trio has managed to put together a masterpiece on this, their third full length studio album. It is everything a punk record should be - dark, moving, cynical, hopeful, wide eyed and world weary all at the same time. Recommended for fans of Green Day, Jawbreaker and The Get Up Kids. Standard jewel case. 2001 release.
